Elly

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 12, 2009, 6:38 AM

So let me tell you about my most recent pic Elly Was Here
Ok so it was a birthday gift
And Not that I dont try hard on all my pics but I try harder for things for my friends
And like if you remember I said Ive been getting taught about making portraits and so I used that on this one
But let me tell you how
Because I wanted the face to be amazing I drew the body first and left the face completly empty and even the hair
Then I drew the head on a diffrent piece of paper
And combined them in photoshop
Now ive done this 2-3 times before but those werer when I made a background and then added a person to them later
But I dont know I just love the look of it
Like theres been a select few pics that I impressed myself when I was done with it
And this one was just amazing to me
But what also amazes me
The other pic I drew that amazed me the NEVERMORE pic of Raven
But here is the diffrence
The nevermore pic broke my single day fav record with 40
But the elly pic I think barely has broken 20 all together
Shows you more people prefer anime over realism

not in this order

Artistically speaking the Elly pic is far superior. The pose is very realistic and the soft coloring gives it a very charming feel. And I had no idea that's how you did the face, that's incredibly talented of you, I'm very impressed. And even though more people on DA will prefer the anime style, I hope you keep drawing whatever you want and however you want. After all, that's what art is all about, expressing yourself in the style that best suits you.

Honestly I havent decided yet

The world's already such a cookie cutter clusterfuck of clones that the last thing we need is yet another copycat. Integrity is so rare in our universe these days. *Sigh*

I think that both styles have their merits. However, the anime style is a little overdone and approaching burn-out status. There are so many people doing it that it's ubiquitous nature has caused it to lose it's uniqueness. However, I have to agree with jeagerjack, that developing your own style is truly unique and is what will ultimately cause you to make your mark in this crazy world of DA.

whichever you decide ill still enjoy it

This mixture of styles sounds like it could be very interesting. I look forward to seeing the results of your experimentations in this vein.
